They Poured Concrete Across Larry’s Private Road, Then the HOA Had to Pay to Remove Every Inch

Chapter 1: The Concrete Truck Outside Larry’s Window

The sound that woke Larry Hall was not loud enough to be alarming at first.

It was a low mechanical churn beneath the kitchen window, followed by the sharp hiss of air brakes.

Larry opened one eye, listened, then sat upright.

No delivery truck had any reason to be beside his house at six-thirty on a Saturday morning.

He crossed the hallway barefoot and pulled one edge of the curtain aside.

A yellow concrete mixer filled the narrow view beyond his side yard.

Its rear wheels were standing partly on the gravel road that ran along his wooden fence. Two workers in reflective vests were guiding the chute backward.

Straight toward the road.
