They Sold Weekend Access Through His Farm Gate—Then the Old Easement Exposed Who Actually Owned the Landing

Chapter 1: The Strangers Who Knew His Gate Code

The third trailer was already through the gate when Anthony Martin saw it.

He was halfway across the lower pasture in his feed truck, headlights cutting through the last gray before sunrise, when a red pickup rolled beyond the weathered iron gate and turned onto the gravel lane toward the river. Two kayaks were strapped to its roof. Behind it bounced a small aluminum fishing boat.

Anthony took his foot off the accelerator.

The first two vehicles were farther down the lane, their taillights slipping between the sycamores.

For a moment he wondered whether he had forgotten somebody.

Then the red pickup slowed beside a cattle gap, and the driver leaned out as if searching for a marker.

Anthony swung the feed truck across the lane.

The pickup stopped.
