My Neighbor Kept Driving Across My Lawn—Then the HOA Learned Why Fourteen Damage Notices Existed

Chapter 1: The Truck Crossed the Green Line Again

The front tire of Christopher Walker’s pickup rolled over the survey stake slowly enough for David Carter to watch the orange flag bend beneath the bumper.

For half a second, David thought the truck would stop.

It didn’t.

The lifted black pickup dropped off the curb cut, crossed the pale line David had sprayed beside the stake, and climbed onto the Bermuda grass. The oversized tire sank into a rut from the previous weekend, crushing the new growth David had spent three evenings coaxing back into place.

David was already standing there with a steel ruler in one hand and his phone in the other.

Christopher saw him.

That was what made it different.

The truck kept coming.
