He Kept Moving My Farm Bins Across the Property Line—Then I Learned Why He Needed Them There

Chapter 1: The Containers Were Gone Before the Truck Arrived

Scott Harris heard the collection truck before he saw what was wrong.

Its diesel engine climbed the county road in a low mechanical growl, followed by the sharp hiss of brakes at the farm entrance. Scott was halfway across the equipment shed with a grease rag in one hand when the truck stopped.

Then, almost immediately, it moved again.

“No.”

He dropped the rag and walked quickly outside.

The two large wheeled farm-service containers were supposed to be sitting on the gravel turnout beside his field gate. Scott had rolled them there himself after supper the night before.

The turnout was empty.

The truck continued east, its rear lights shrinking between the rows of roadside trees.
