The HOA Sent a Crew to Tear Down the Only Bridge His Sister Could Cross

Chapter 1: The Machine Was Already Pulling the Post

The support post moved three inches before Timothy Martinez reached the bridge.

He knew because he had marked it.

The pencil line he drew the night before was still visible above the dark wet wood, a small record of where the replacement beam had settled after he drove it into place. Below it, an older faded mark showed the highest water level from a storm twelve years earlier.

The mechanical puller groaned again.

Timothy stopped halfway down the gravel path leading from his house to the old mill approach. The sound did not belong there. Not at six forty in the morning. Not on his bridge.

A metal clamp wrapped around the new support post, and a worker in a safety vest stood beside the machine watching the cable tighten.

For a moment, Timothy thought he was looking at the wrong property.

Then he saw the orange cones.
