“The towing rule applies whether you agree with it or not.”

Janet Thompson stood at the edge of Brian Anderson’s driveway with her phone raised chest-high, the camera lens pointed past him at the truck. The hood was open, its faded blue metal lifting between them like a wall.

Brian kept one hand on the wrench inside the engine bay.

“You’re standing on my property,” he said.

“I’m documenting a violation.”

“You’re photographing me.”

“You’re in front of the violation.”

Janet tapped the screen.
