The Old Gate Everyone Ignored Until One Neighbor’s Forgotten Records Changed the Entire Community Dispute

Chapter 1: The Gate That Everyone Thought They Owned

The chain was already hanging loose when Frank Martinez stepped out of his front door.

For a moment, he did not understand what he was seeing.

The morning sun caught the broken metal links near the bottom of the gate, making the damage impossible to ignore. The old wooden posts stood exactly where they had stood for nearly forty years, but the chain that had kept strangers from driving onto the narrow strip of land beside his house was no longer holding anything back.

Frank walked closer, his worn work shoes pressing into the gravel path he had repaired countless times himself.

Then he saw the cut.

The lock had not rusted away. It had not broken from age.

Someone had sliced straight through it.

He reached out and touched the sharp edge of the damaged chain. The metal was cold beneath his fingers.
