They Called Him a Trespasser Until the Missing Harvest Records Exposed Who Controlled the Farm

Chapter 1: The Man Sent to the Visitor Turnout

“Family guests use the turnout.”

Mark Wilson said it loudly enough for the first row of pickers to hear.

Thomas Carter sat behind the wheel of his mud-streaked pickup while two refrigerated trucks idled behind him, their engines filling the harvest lane with a low mechanical growl. Beyond the gate, workers in canvas sleeves moved empty field bins toward the eastern rows. Several had stopped to watch.

Mark stood beneath the new electronic entry post in a clean gray vest, one hand resting on a tablet. A plastic access placard hung from his belt.

Thomas lowered his window. “I need the north irrigation lane.”

“Commercial loading is active.” Mark nodded toward a gravel patch outside the fence. A white sign marked it as VISITOR TURNOUT. “Park there and check in at the office.”

“The pump motor failed before daylight.”

“I have a mechanic scheduled.”
