He Moved the Fence Eleven Feet Into Samuel’s Farm—Then the Buried Iron Pin Changed Everything

Chapter 1: The New Fence Was Already Inside Samuel’s Pasture

Samuel Hill stopped the tractor because the left front tire had nowhere to go.

A cedar post stood directly in the track.

For a few seconds he remained behind the wheel, one hand resting on the gear lever, staring at the clean yellow wood planted in soil his tires had packed hard over twenty years.

Then he looked south.

A new livestock fence ran from the road toward the lower pasture, straight and tight and wrong.

Samuel shut off the engine.

The sudden silence made the fence seem even more out of place.

He climbed down and walked beside it. Fresh dirt ringed every post. The wire was new enough to shine. Whoever had installed it had finished recently.
