The HOA Blocked His Work Gate Overnight—Then an Old Access File Changed the Entire Dispute

Chapter 1: The Barrier Was Already Across His Gate

Michael Carter knew something was wrong before he turned into his driveway.

The black steel gate beside his shop was open, but a gray concrete barrier sat squarely across the entrance, close enough that the gate could not swing shut and wide enough that his truck could not pass.

His welding trailer was trapped behind it.

Michael slowed the work truck until the tires barely rolled over the gravel. A contractor in a reflective vest stood beside a small flatbed, winding a chain back onto a hydraulic arm. Richard Hall was ten feet away with a folder tucked under one arm.

Michael stopped the engine.

For a few seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Richard walked toward him.

“You can still use your front drive.”
