They Turned the Neighboring Farm Into a Weekend Party Venue—Then One Farmer Started Recording Every Violation

Chapter 1: The Weekend Cars Reached Ronald’s Farm Gate

Ronald Walker stopped the tractor thirty feet from his own gate because a silver sedan was parked across it.

Behind him, the hay wagon sat heavy with square bales, its tires pressed deep into the gravel. Ahead, beyond the sagging wooden gate, the narrow lane dropped toward his lower field. There was no room to turn the tractor around, and no way to squeeze the wagon past the sedan without taking out a fence post.

Ronald shut off the engine.

Music carried over from the Allen place next door, loud enough that he could feel the bass between songs. Cars lined both shoulders of the gravel entrance. A white pickup had two wheels in the grass. Three younger people stood beside it holding plastic cups, talking over one another.

Ronald climbed down.

“Whose car is this?”

One of them pointed toward the Allen barn.

Ronald walked past a row of vehicles and found Brandon Allen near a folding table under string lights. Brandon wore a clean work shirt with the sleeves rolled up, though Ronald had never seen him work livestock in it.
