The HOA Locked Him Out of the Pool for Breaking Their Rules—Then He Found the Parcel They Never Owned

Chapter 1: The Lock Hanging on Ronald’s Gate

Ronald Carter knew something was wrong before he reached the pool gate.

His key slid into the old latch the way it had for years, but the gate did not move.

He pulled once, then again.

A new brass-colored padlock hung through the black metal bars, catching the morning light. A white sheet of paper had been tucked beneath a plastic cover beside it.

Ronald stood there with one hand still on the gate.

Behind the fence, the water was blue and still. Two lounge chairs sat crooked from the night before. A child’s foam noodle floated near the shallow end.

Everything looked normal except for the lock.

“Ronald.”
