The HOA Tried to Silence His Door Camera Until Its Own Walls Started Talking

Chapter 1: The Orange Notice on the Smallest House

Kathleen White pressed the orange notice flat against Michael Walker’s windshield as if she were sealing evidence to a crime scene.

She used both palms, smoothing the corners beneath the wiper blade, then stepped back to make sure he could not miss it. Her navy polo carried the embroidered neighborhood crest. Her khaki pants were sharply pressed. Even at seven-thirty on a Monday morning, she looked prepared for a board photograph.

Michael stopped halfway down his front steps, travel mug in one hand, work keys in the other.

“Morning, Kathleen.”

She turned without surprise. “You’ll need to read that before Friday.”

His truck sat in the shortest driveway on Willow Ridge Lane, beside the smallest house on the block. The neighboring homes had stone-faced mailboxes, curved landscaping walls, and lawns trimmed into patterns. Michael’s place had painted siding, a concrete walk, two porch chairs, and no debt attached to it.

Above his front door, a black weatherproof camera watched the porch.

Kathleen looked up at it with open distaste.
