They Gave Him Forty-Eight Hours to Remove His Truck, Then the Survey Line Cut Through the HOA’s Own Claim

Chapter 1: Forty-Eight Hours on His Own Driveway

The fluorescent notice was tucked beneath the blue pickup’s windshield wiper so tightly that Jason Walker had to tear one corner to pull it free.

FORTY-EIGHT HOURS stood across the top in black block letters.

Below it, the language became smaller and more official: visible fluid leakage, negative impact on neighborhood appearance, failure to maintain vehicle condition, towing authorization subject to continued noncompliance.

Jason read it twice.

Then he looked down at the driveway.

A dark stain, no wider than a dinner plate, marked the concrete beneath the truck’s transmission. He had placed a shallow drain pan under it two days earlier and already knew which seal needed replacing. The truck still started on the first turn of the key. It still hauled lumber, mulch, and anything too awkward for Elizabeth’s crossover.

More importantly, every tire was sitting on his own concrete.

He folded the notice once and carried it toward the porch.
