When the HOA Revoked His Gate Pass, He Closed the Road They Never Owned

Chapter 1: The Papers Landed Before Thomas Could Speak

The packet struck the table hard enough to scatter three loose pages into Thomas Carter’s lap.

Susan Allen kept one hand pressed on the remaining stack as if the documents might escape her authority. Her white jacket looked almost luminous beneath the clubhouse’s fluorescent lights. Behind her, forty folding chairs faced the board table, most of them occupied.

“Effective immediately,” she said, “your interior gate pass is revoked.”

Thomas did not reach for the pages.

A low murmur moved through the room. Someone near the coffee station shifted a phone higher, its camera aimed toward the board.

Susan slid a laminated access card across the polished table. It stopped against Thomas’s knuckles.

“You’ll enter and park from the public side like every other nonmember property owner.”

Thomas looked at the card, then at her. “I’m not a nonmember property owner.”
