He Inherited His Uncle’s Wyoming Ranch—Then Found Three Vacation Cabins Making Money Behind His Back

Chapter 1: The Cabin He Never Knew Existed

The woman at the cabin door entered four numbers into a black metal lockbox, pulled out a key, and let herself into a building Daniel Harris had never seen before.

He stopped halfway down the narrow two-track lane.

For several seconds, he simply watched.

The woman carried a grocery bag inside. A man followed with two duffels and a small cooler. Their dark crossover sat beside the porch, Colorado plates dusted pale from the gravel road. They moved with the ordinary confidence of people arriving somewhere they had every right to be.

Daniel looked past them at the cabin.

Rough-cut siding. Green metal roof. Covered porch. Split firewood stacked neatly beneath one window.

Two days earlier, the deed to all 280 acres had transferred to him after his uncle’s estate closed.

Nothing in the inventory had mentioned a furnished cabin.
