My Neighbor Kept Piling Trash Around My Mailbox Until One HOA Hearing Changed Both of Us

Chapter 1: The Bags Were Back Before Sunrise

George Moore knew what was outside before he reached the bottom of his front steps.

The smell reached him first.

Not strong enough to turn his stomach, but sour enough to be unmistakable in the cool air before sunrise. He looked toward the curb and stopped with one hand still on the porch rail.

Three black garbage bags had been wedged around his mailbox.

One leaned against the post. Another sat directly beneath the metal box. The third bulged into the narrow strip where George normally stood when he collected his mail.

He closed his eyes for a second.

“Again.”

The word came out quieter than he intended.
