The HOA Banned His Children From a Pool Built on His Own Family’s Land

Chapter 1: The Notice Delivered at His Own Front Door

“Your children are no longer permitted to use the community pool.”

Sharon Wilson said it before Dennis Carter had fully opened his front door.

She stood on the porch in a navy blazer despite the July heat, an HOA badge clipped beneath one lapel and a white envelope held between two fingers. Her red hair was pinned neatly away from her face. At the bottom of the porch steps, Dennis’s eight-year-old twins waited in damp swimsuits, towels hanging from their shoulders.

One of them had been crying.

Dennis looked from the envelope to Sharon.

“What happened?”

“The board received multiple complaints about disruptive behavior during the morning fitness period.” Sharon offered him the paper. “The suspension is effective immediately.”

Dennis did not take it at first.
