The HOA Turned His Private Lane Into a Construction Shortcut—Then Friday Morning Forced Everyone to Read the Old Easement

Chapter 1: The Trucks That Did Not Belong on Richard’s Lane

At 7:12 on Friday morning, the first dump truck stopped so hard that its empty bed gave a metallic shudder.

Richard Lewis stood twenty feet inside his property with a white coffee mug warming both hands.

The truck idled in front of the new steel gate stretched across his gravel lane.

A second truck rolled up behind it.

Then a third.

By 7:16, six of them sat nose to tail along the subdivision road, amber hazard lights blinking against the pale morning.

The first driver climbed down, looked at the gate, then at Richard.

“You Richard?”
