The Weekends Next Door Kept Getting Louder Until One Quiet Homeowner Changed the Entire Block

Chapter 1: The Blue Lights Returned Before Raymond Had Fallen Asleep

The blue lights reached Raymond Harris’s bedroom before sleep did.

They slid across the ceiling in slow pulses, vanished, then returned brighter through the blinds. Red followed blue. Blue followed red. For a few seconds his room looked less like the back corner of a quiet suburban house and more like the inside of an ambulance.

Raymond stared up at the shifting colors and listened to the bass coming through the wall.

Not music. Not really.

At this distance, it was mostly impact.

Thump.

A pause.

Thump-thump.
